  • Open the invite link
  • Review the community details
  • Complete onboarding questions (if required)
  • Submit to join

Note:Some communities require approval. You’ll be notified once an admin reviews your request.

Channel types
  • Channel can be private or public
  • Any community member can browse and join the public channel
  • Community member needs to be invited to private channel
  • Any public channel can be set as default, if it is set as default then community member will automatically join the default channel as soon as they join the community
Create a channel

You’ll need the Create Channel permission.

  • Open your community sidebar
  • Tap + Add Channel
  • Add a name and description
  • Set visibility
Organize channels
  • Group channels into categories
  • Requires channel management permissions
Join or leave a channel
  • Join: Go to browse channels and hover over the channel and click on join or you can be added by channel admin to the channel
  • Leave: Tap the three dots on channel and select Leave

Membership directory

Go to Community → Membership directory

You can filter by:

  • Role
  • City
  • Job title
  • Online status
Invite members

You’ll need the Invite Member permission.

Options:

  • Email invite
  • Go to Community home page/ Membership directory/ Manager members→ Invite
  • Enter email(s)
  • Edit email template (If required)
  • Tap Invite
  • Bulk invite
  • Upload a CSV file
  • Share invite link
  • Send via Slack, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, etc.

Manage Members:

Manage member by either approve, reject or remove the member from the community

Approve members

For communities with approval enabled:

  • Go to Manage Members
  • Review profile and onboarding responses
  • Tap Approve (assign role if needed) or Reject

You can also approve multiple requests at once.

Member notes (admins & moderators)
  • Add private notes to any member
  • Only visible to users with permission
  • Useful for tracking context or history
Remove a member
  • Go to Manage members
  • Go to the member you want to remove
  • Tap Remove
  • Add reason and click on remove

Access is removed immediately.

Export members
  • Go to Manage members → Export
  • Go to Membership directory - Export
  • A CSV is sent to email

Default roles

Common roles include:

  • Creator/Admin — full access
  • Member — participate in conversations and events
Create custom roles
  • Go to Settings → Roles & permissions
  • Tap + Add role
  • Name the role
  • Select permissions
Example permissions
  • Edit community details
  • Invite or approve members
  • Remove members
  • Manage roles
  • Create/manage channels
Assign roles
  • Open a Manage member/ Membership directory
  • Go to the person’s profile - community insights - Role information and change the role by using drop down option or in manage member go to Assigned role column and update the role there.
